The saxophonist and clarinetist Fredrik Ljungkvist was born in Kristinehamn in 1969. He grew up in a musical family; his grandfather was a fiddler and his father is a saxophonist. After studying at Skurup Folk High School's music program and the Royal College of Music in Stockholm in the early 90s, he quickly became one of the most sought-after saxophonists in Stockholm.
He has played, among others, with the Fredrik Norén Band, Jan Levander, and his own quartet. His subtle and expressive saxophone playing has impressed both audiences and critics around the world.
