For this event at Fylkingen, Annea Lockwood will present two concert works: 'Immersion' (for two percussionists, here Sarah Hennies and Henrik Olson) and 'Jitterbug' (for three performers — Sarah Hennies, Oren Ambarchi, crys cole — and six-channel sound).
Oren Ambarchi and cry cole reimagine electro-acoustic music, not simply as “abstract” sound, but as a diary, a love poem, a dream. Their second release ‘Hotel Record’ continues to explore the pair’s simultaneously musical and romantic relationship in a more subtle fashion, presenting four long-form pieces that touch on the variety of forms the life of this couple takes: as a musical duo, as a pair of travelers to exotic locations, as opponents in a game of cards…
Each of the double LP’s four sides presents a distinct sound-world, yet each manages to attain the same suspended, half-sleeping feeling, outlining a space where improbable combinations of the electronic and the acoustic, of extreme closeness and amorphous distance, occurring with the gentle insistence of a dream.
Born in New Zealand in 1939 and living in the US since 1973, Annea Lockwood is known for her explorations of the rich world of natural acoustic sounds and environments, in works ranging from sound art and installations, through text-sound and performance art to concert music.
Born in in Limoges in 1981, François J. Bonnet is the artistic director of the prestigious institute INA-GRM and the curator of the Recollection GRM series on Editions Mego label. In 2012 he published The Order of Sounds: A Sonorous Archipelago (Szendy Editions [original French] / Urbanomic [English Translation]) his book on the philosophy of sound and listening.
Bonnet produces music under his Kassel Jaeger pseudonym. Kassel Jaeger’s works are a complex balance between concrète experimentalism, ambient noise, and electroacoustic improvisation. He has released several well-received albums on various labels including Editions Mego and Senufo Editions.
crys cole is a Canadian sound artist based in Berlin (DE) who works in composition, performance, sound sculpture and installation. Taking a conceptual approach, she generates subtle and imperfect sounds through haptic gestures and seemingly mundane materials to create texturally nuanced electro-acoustic works that continuously retune the ear.
cole has performed in Canada, Japan, Australia, Thailand, Singapore, the USA, UK and throughout Europe. Her regular collaborators include Oren Ambarchi (AU) and James Rushford (AU) (as the duo Ora Clementi). She has also worked with Francis Plagne (AU), Leif Elggren (SW), Tetuzi Akiyama (JP), Seiji Morimoto (DE), Jessika Kenney (US), David Rosenboom (US), Annea Lockwood (US/NZ), Keith Rowe (UK), Lance Austin Olsen (CA), Jamie Drouin (CA), Mathieu Ruhlmann (CA), David Behrman (US), Tim Olive (JP/CA) and many more.

Cole’s sound installations and sculptures often investigate ideas around impermanence, temporality, memory and illusion, with a particular interest in simple everyday materials and site specificity. Her work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Canada, Czech Republic, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Russia, the UK, Spain, Switzerland and Thailand.
Oren Ambarchi’s works are hesitant and tense extended songforms located in the cracks between several schools: modern electronics and processing; laminal improvisation and minimalism; hushed, pensive songwriting; the deceptive simplicity and temporal suspensions of composers such as Morton Feldman and Alvin Lucier; and the physicality of rock music, slowed down and stripped back to its bare bones, abstracted and replaced with pure signal.
From the late 90’s his experiments in guitar abstraction and extended technique have led to a more personal and unique sound-world incorporating a broader palette of instruments and sensibilities. On releases such as Grapes From The Estate and In The Pendulum’s Embrace, Ambarchi employed glass harmonica, strings, bells, piano, drums and percussion, creating fragile textures as light as air which tenuously coexist with the deep, wall-shaking bass tones derived from his guitar.

Sarah Hennies (b. 1979, Louisville, KY) is a composer and percussionist currently residing in Ithaca, NY. Her work is primarily concerned with an immersive, psychoacoustic presentation of sound brought about by an often grueling, endurance-based performance practice that Nathan Thomas of Fluid Radio described as "a highly sophisticated and refined performance technique...that starts and ends with listening and encourages a different way of listening from its audience."
Ever since he was the drummer and percussionist in legendary band gul3 (Yellow3 in English), Henrik Olsson have made great contributions to the field of experimental music in Sweden. As composer and improviser, his curiosity and open-minded musical thought has brought him to a rich world of musical textures, quite often realized electronically through amplified sounds and with silence as a natural part of the musical result.
